Linux (Mint) user here with latest nVidia drivers and latest production build of H20.0.688 but I can reproduce the very same issue on a totally different machine with Win11 and latest nVidia drivers:
Every time I double-click an RBD Bullet Solver to enter the realm of DOP forces and start adding e.g. a POP force and toggle the brown output flag the viewport switches to "Smooth Wire Shaded" mode.
If I now go back to Geometry level and e.g. try to switch the RBD Bullet Solver to display the Proxy Geometry or Constraints (with the rather new and awesome 1,2,3 key shortcuts) the viewport doesn't update and keeps displaying the same geometry.
I can navigate without problems but the geometry that was visible back in DOP forces mode is somehow stuck in the graphics card's memory so to say. I can even disable the blue display flag at Objects level but the geometry stays visible.
Labs "Reset Viewport" or restarting Houdini helps, but it is quite annoying.

this is the result with Cycles. It seems to be losing a lot of energy when it stacks up in depth, even though I have indirect unclamped and 24 bounces. is it just fast because it's cheating and wrong? I would think even 4096 wrong samples would take longer than 1024 good ones.
Just in case: In Cycles you can up the "Min Transparent Bounces" to make sure Russian Roulette doesn't terminate transparent rays too early. Maybe it helps. Energy conservation / preservation shouldn't be a problem in latest Blender 4.x any more.

If you're using the Pyro SOP, the Output tab might help you a lot:

Somewhere in the announcement (text) they mentioned a hydra delegate.
Yes, that's why I expected to see a Stage context somewhere. I'm still trying to get used to the whole Solaris stuff so I would really love to see Moonray open source integrated into Houdini like an oldskool renderer not only a Hydra delegate.
At least until I'm confident with Solaris

Look super exciting. They didn't show it rendering in LOPs / Solaris though but in /obj context. I wonder if the open source version is also so nicely integrated

Same happened to me when I started the License Manager from the Launcher. (Linux Mint 20.3)
I then started the License Manager from command line and it worked (without sourcing houdini_setup).

I'm quite happy with the 470.82.01 drivers on Linux Mint 20.2 at the moment. The also available 495.x drivers cause all kinds of troubles with Houdini and Blender currently (most of the time Houdini just instantly closes / disappears when using specific tools).

Linux Mint 20.2
nVidia driver 495.29.05
H19.0.436
RTX2070 Super
All is fine
EDIT: Houdini instantly closes whenever I add a "Curve" or "Skeleton" SOP and start click in the 3D viewport. Don't know if it's the 495 driver's fault though.
EDIT2: OK, I went back to 470.82.01 and the crashes are gone. Looks like nVidia still has some work to do...
